Energizing Mission - It's Getting Personal

I have always struggled with my weight. Not necessarily with how much I weighed (although there are times where I am heavier than I would like), but more so I struggle with how much I think about my weight. My confidence can be crushed just from looking in the mirror on a day where I am bloated or ate too much the evening before. I have struggled with "food guilt" more times than I can count. I have turned down plans because "nothing in my closet fits." It is a constant thought that weaves itself in and out of my stream of consciousness. Body confidence is something I am not sure I will ever have, but this year it has been a huge priority for me. I realized that I am halfway through my 20's and missing out on so much because I am worried about what people might think of me if they see me in a dress from the year before that is a little too tight these days.

At the beginning of the year, I set New Year's goals to be a certain weight by summer so I could feel confident in a swimsuit. That was going well until my life got flipped upside down when I started my new job. My typical work schedule is 7:30am - 6:00pm (at least) Monday through Friday, meaning there is not much time in my week for anything outside of work. My eating habits slipped again and I was resorting to grabbing something quick (and unhealthy) because I didn't have time to make meals. A couple weeks into my busy new life, I was feeling overwhelmed and thought I would never get my body back on track. I happened to discover Energizing Mission right in the midst of that hopelessness. I stopped in to try their pistachio almond shake I had seen all over Instagram, and immediately I was hooked! If you haven't seen my many posts on Instagram, I will break it down for you. Energizing Mission has basically a 3-course liquid meal. The first step is a shot of aloe that helps aid in digestion and internal cleansing. The next step is an energizing tea that actually burns fat and reduces appetite. The third (and most delicious!) course is a shake that truly tastes like a milkshake - for around 200 calories, 17 grams of protein and fewer than 25 grams of carbs! The shakes keep you full for hours and it has become a ritual to have at least one a day.

I now have the shake mix at home (thanks, Alexis!) since I rarely had time to make it into the store early enough to get to work on time. With the shake package, you also get signed up with a coach who makes you a wellness plan specifically for you. Alexis, the owner of Energizing, sat down with me to map out my goals and come up with a plan to get there. We took all my measurements and walked through what I should be eating on a daily basis. What I love about Alexis is that she knows I won't be able to eat healthy for every single meal and she doesn't expect that! She is teaching me to allow myself more flexibility and to always come back on track after a bad meal instead of thinking "well, my whole day is ruined - might as well have an entire sleeve of Oreos!"

Three weeks in, I have not been perfect. There are days (many of them in fact!) where I don't make it to the gym or I have a burger and fries for dinner. The biggest change for me hasn't come from the number on the scale - I finally feel like I am able to have a "cheat meal" and move on from it quickly. My plan to keep myself accountable is to write a monthly blog post updating you on my progress and what has changed. Today I went in for my bi-weekly weigh in and measurements and I am officially 6 pounds lighter and I have lost 9 inches. The biggest change for me has been in my confidence. I will keep you all posted - but I can't wait to see where my partnership with Alexis and Energizing leads me!
